I believe my mom is going to stop using relaxers and she needs some hairstyles. She’s a CLASSY lady and the fro is not for her. Any suggestions?

I love this locing technique. They’re beautiful.
More like micros. I myself have recently started locs in the traditional way but I think SisterLocks are gorgeous. They just weren’t right for MY hair texture.

Question: dreadlocks vs sisterlocks?

Question by THACKER: dreadlocks vs sisterlocks?
I really want sisterlocks but i simply don’t have 450-1000 to pay to get them installed. Could i just get really skinny dreadlocks instead?

Best answer:

Answer by Terez
I have Sisterlocks, and yes, they cost a lot of money. You could get thin dreadlocks by opting for braidlocs. They are started with braids and maintained with by latching the roots, either with the use of a tool or without one. These can also be maintained by palm rolling. I have seen braidlocs that look a lot like Sisterlocks, and they cost a lot less.

Also, have you checked out Nappylocs? The woman who started Nappylocs used to do Sisterlocks, and she invented her system as an affordable way for people to have skinny dreadlocks.

Question by inja: Are there any salons that comb out dreads? What is the best locking method?
I am growing out my hair naturally. I want dreads for style and to grow my hair out to the best potential length. I do plan on combing the dreads out at a certain point. What locking method would be best for my hair so it wont be extremely difficult to comb out the dreads in the future? What is the best method for combing out dreads and are there salons that do it?

Question: I’m starting sisterlock…got any tips on cute ways to rock it with relaxed ends??

Question by Shana: I’m starting sisterlock…got any tips on cute ways to rock it with relaxed ends??
I am so excited about becoming a natural sista and locking this relaxed mess! I have about a inch of new growth, and my certified sisterlocks stylist is prepared to start the locks this weekend…but…I still will have about 5 inches of relaxed hair on the ends.

I know I’ll probably want to cut if off after a week to just be 100% true with it all, but how can I wear it until I get comfy with all the parts, spaces and straight ends?

Please help!!!

Sista, don’t get confused, you either go 100% natty or not at all. Cut the perm and get comfy with the dreads. In a couple of months, after good care you will have locks in abundance. 8 months into it and I have 5″ of great locks! Let it grow.

Question by showstopper18: has anyone ever used a product called naturalaxer?
if you have used it how well did it work and how fast did you see results? i am also wanting to try The Edge fltiron/new growth straightener. has anyone ever tried it?

any info will be appreciated. i am wanting to stop using chemical perms to straighten my hair but i like the look of straight hair. i feel like my hair is breaking out and i blame the chemicals in the perms. i once grew my perm out and my hair was so healthy. i don’t know why i got it again. i am now thinking of trying this product. if it doesn’t work i will try sisterlocks.

thanks!

I am going to start sisterlocks, but want to know if anyones started with relaxed ends as well. I want to know your process, and tips on maintaining a cute appearance even with the relaxed ends. Thank you so much!

Peace and blessings, stay lovely and smile!

you are going to have to cut the permed ends off, if it is only on the ends your okay, but if it is from root to end I would suggest waiting til you have at least half new growth

Question by cuteGIRL01: sisterlocks…do u need to start with one to two inches of new growth?
I have been wearing my hair natural for about 4 years now. I really love sisterlocks but was afraid to get them due to the committment. I now feel that I am ready to lock my hair. However, my hair has grown to about shoulder length when straightened. Can sisterlocks still be achieved with that length of hair??
